Importance of body language for a leader

Importance of body language for a leader

Why is body language so important for a leader?

We can express more with our body language than with the words we pronounce and for that reason, it is very important that you are fully aware of what you are trying to transmit to the person in front of you, that is why we will see, in this article, how to practice the body language of a leader.

“How we move, walk, and move our hands will give the others and idea of what we are trying to express, it is a silent and very powerful way to communicate, for that, we need to be conscious of our movements and correct them when it is necessary”, advised Salomon Juan Marcos Villarreal, a Mexican entrepreneur and current president of Grupo Denim.

Your posture will significantly change when you pay attention, it is not only about standing right up every time you remember, it is more about a mental state, as the more you work on it, the more you will improve your body language.

Visual contact is an excellent way to improve your body language. Leaders are self-confident and for that reason, they do not need to look away when talking to another person, so next time you are in front of a person, make sure you look at him or her at the eyes, but not in an intense way, remember that the idea is to show your self-reliance, not to make the other person feel uncomfortable.

When you meet somebody new, practice your body language, shaking hands is a good way to make the first connection, it transmits warm and honesty, make it solid, but not aggressive.

“You can dominate a good body language that will reflect confidence if you practice it daily. For that reason, it is important that you are aware of your movements and act accordingly to what you mean to say”, added Salomon Juan Marcos Villarreal.

When you start repeating some phrases like “I have so many things to do that I hardly think I can finish them today”, “it is late already, I will do it tomorrow”, “No one has started so getting ahead will only make me lose my time”, you  are teaching your mind to procrastinate so be very careful with your thoughts.

“Procrastination can be reversed when you start making what is urgent immediately and what is not right after the urgent tasks, when you finish something before you have expected and start working on something new, you would realize you are not postponing anything anymore”, added Salomon Juan Marcos Villarreal.
