Turn rejection into success

turn rejection into success

How can entrepreneurs turn rejection into success?

An entrepreneur knows the difficulties when starting a new project, they will have to go through rejects, people will criticize them and they will always have to walk with the chances to fail, but if an entrepreneur is compromised to be successful, they know that these are only obstacles that will lead them to reach their goals if they are able to find the secret to turn everything, including rejection into success.

“Successful entrepreneurs know the importance to keep on going through the adversities, it is with a strong conviction that they turn their vulnerabilities into new creations, those are the ones who take chances and change risks for rewards”, advised Salomon Juan Marcos Villarreal, president of Grupo Denim, about this topic.

If you want to be a successful entrepreneur, and turn rejection or any other obstacles into success, here are some suggestions about what you will need to do:

  • Work on yourself before you start working with others – An entrepreneur or leader who aspires to be successful must work on his personal development first, but this will not be achieved from one day to another, as much as we would like it to be, it takes time and small but constant changes who will drive you to become a better person.
  • Forget about comfort zones – A great entrepreneur knows there is nothing more dangerous than a comfort zone, be careful, when you feel like everything is running smoothly, you might be doing it wrong.
  • Always keep your mission in mind – As an entrepreneur, you must have a clear mission on your project, and it is as important to have as to always keep in mind, the business world might drive you into different paths and can present you many obstacles, but as long as you do not forget about your mission, no matter what the circumstances are, you will be able to succeed in what you believe will be successful.

“Entrepreneurs have to go through a lot of pressure, but if they are able to work hard and overcome the obstacles, turn their failure into experience and be grateful with the ones around him, he will sooner or later find the success he is chasing”, added Salomon Juan Marcos Villarreal.

The essence of entrepreneurship

The essence of entrepreneurship: Team play

A good entrepreneur does not play alone. At the beginning he had the idea and put it in action, as he gets on road, a team that could stand by him in order to execute all the necessary for the project to become into an enterprise becomes a must for the company to have success. This is why we say that team play is the essence of the entrepreneurship.

There are questions that an investment analyzes before deciding if the investment is really worth it. Questions like: Does this team have the needed experience to accomplish the proposal? Does the team have the capacity to know its own weakness and hire persons that are capable of covering those circumstances? If the entrepreneur and his team are able to answer all of these questions, then they are a good candidate to receive the investment.

As an entrepreneur, these questions are really needed: Which decisions or activities are going to have very negative effects to the company development if they are not done in the incorrect way? Which activities or decisions are going to have a very positive performance if they are done in the correct way? There will be different answers but they all will converge on the same topics. Once these successful factors are identified, these are transmitted to the team.

They will be confident in the way they will execute these critic factors of success because this is the only way for them to protect their money. A good execution will be once the entrepreneur has identified those factors and has also made the team that will be capable of executing them. This is why team play is so important for entrepreneurship.

For Salomon Juan Marcos Villarreal, a successful businessman from Mexico, abilities and leadership of the entrepreneur are essential in order to make this team. “The entrepreneur will have the responsibility to transmit the mission, vision and values of the project and to convert the persons that he invites to his business not only into a team members but a followers of their own brand”, said Salomon Juan Marcos Villarreal, president of Grupo Denim.

Salary range

Salary range on a family business

Cristina Cruz is an academic from IE Business School, in Madrid and has couched 35 family businesses; she is also a member of one of these companies. These are her tips for a salary range to all the family members:

  1. Define success – For some families, success is that all members earn the same money, for others, it will depend on meritocracy. The objective needs to be working for a common benefit.
  2. Roles analysis – Shareholders will receive dividends; an adviser will receive a salary variable remuneration and an employee a fixed salary with benefits.
  3. Range – Compare how much are the other companies paying and establish a salary range.
  4. Equity – If someone works better, needs to get a better pay. The life style for the children could be guaranteed with performance and family bonuses.
  5. Educational fund – Part of the profits will need to be assigned to guarantee the education of the grandchildren.
  6. Charity – Established on the family protocol. The company will not pay for weddings, house or cars.

Salomon Juan Marcos Villarreal, as a member of a family business, said that it is very important that everything is in writing and agreed by all the family members. “So many people think that a family business is like a big family playing to control the economy of the whole family and this is just like an urban legend. I came from a family business and my father created a whole system, we all are professionals in what we do and that system helped us to open own our business. My father is such a dreamer that he started and built a great family business on the manufacturing business, what I am is what I learned from him. It was not an easy way but I’m so proud that all his teaching helped me to become the man I am today”, said Salomon Juan Marcos Villarreal, president of Grupo Denim, a successful manufacturing company located in Mexico.

Global Managers

Three Tips for Developing Truly Global Managers

Globalization in business means that the world is shrinking and that leaders need to be well equipped to manage a wide swath of employees, policies and cultural differences.

The emergence of global managers is changing how companies train leaders, but learning these skills requires time and experience. Certainly highly valued global leaders share common inherent traits and competencies but that does not preclude their development in others. Here are three tips for developing truly global managers:

  • Train early

Leadership training for the global stage should begin sooner in the average management track employee’s career. Instead of intensive training in their early 40s, companies should instead offer global mobility and leadership training to staff members a decade younger who are entering supervisorial roles. This provides them with both necessary training and direct experience in other countries, which will prove invaluable as they later transition into global managerial roles.

  • Encourage collaboration and communication

Global managers must develop an “us” perspective among global team members. Managers should encourage team members to talk about their cultural differences as they apply to their work in order to develop understanding and connections.

Personal communication is essential for global leadership, despite the challenges of time zones and some language barriers. Successful global managers will take the time to reach out with phone calls to develop a trusting relationship and further team building.

  • Encourage international assignments and multicultural teams

Exposure to multicultural teams is also an excellent way to develop managers that can understand different cultural perspectives and styles. Through such work prospective global managers develop the need for geographical context, where they better understand specific markets as well as the corresponding initiatives to reach those audiences.

Even with globalization and the international growth of many businesses, there remain significant cultural differences in both the ways people work together and what is important to local consumers. The idiosyncrasies between various regions are critical, and the best managers will embrace and leverage those differences not push them to conformity commented.

“An incredibly demanding role, it’s clear that global managers must think both intuitively and analytically in order to produce sound decisions that inspire global teams to yield widespread results” commented the president of Grupo Denim Salomón Juan Marcos Villarreal.

Hiring experience

Hiring

Hiring experience, what to ask?

When you are hiring new personnel, you would want the best persons to work with the company, so you might be focused on the abilities, knowledge and studies of the person you are interviewing for the job position, and this is the right thing to do, except that many companies do not pay attention to another factor that would probably be one of the most important: emotional intelligence, and today we will talk further about this interesting topic:

“It is necessary to work on improving the emotional intelligence every day, this is the good way that will help us reacting correctly to any situations that we have to face on our daily activities”, said Salomon Juan Marcos Villarreal, president of Grupo Denim about this topic.

If you are hiring, you might want to consider making some of the below questions, if you are not, you can apply them next time you are hiring:

What is your source of inspiration? If you want to make sure that the person in front of you is a good candidate for the job position, you will want to know what models influence his life and why, so focus on this.

Tell me three main values in your life? The answer to this question will make a significant change as it might impress you, especially if the interviewer focus on honesty or integrity.

What was your relationship with other persons on your old job? If you want to know more about a person, let him talk about his old position and the relationships he built there, if he does not have anything good to say about his old job or his co-workers, you might want to start interviewing someone else.

“The values, our main priorities in life, your way to relate with other persons, your attitude against the adversities, those are clear signs of a good or bad emotional intelligence, it is important to work on it and improve it every day to become better persons”, added Salomon Juan Marcos Villarreal.

Conflicts are always present in our life and this is the main obstacle that we face to live fully happy; however, we never ask ourselves if this should be part of our daily life and we just accepted them as something normal. How to solve conflicts in our life? Here are 2 tips that will help us.

  1. – Life value

We are here to live, and our judgment stops us to contact and live all experiences, this is why, we reject everything that we take it as ugly or negative like our fear and sadness. We spend our life resisting living what is out there in the whole world so we keep on murder our present or a moment that could be used to live and experience.

There are no fragments in life, we just need to discover it and open ourselves to it, let our feelings flow and learn something each day. This is a beginning in order to understand all the potential we have as a human being.

  1. – Live the present

The main conflict is our motivation to face situations that life brings to our present from the past. On this scenario, we analyze all past experiences and live our present based on those results; therefore, we will always fail because we used our death past to live our present and the present is unknown but our fear is what make us go back to what we thing is something we already know.
